Search for a CA Identification Number
The CA database is maintained by the Canadian Competition Bureau and allows you to search for information on a clothing manufacturer by entering the name of the company or the five-digit CA number that is found on clothing labels. For more information about CA Identification Number, click here.
Search the U.S. Database by RN Number
A registered identification number or RN is a number issued by the US Federal Trade Commission, upon request, to a business residing in the U.S. that is engaged in the manufacture, importing, distribution, or sale of textile, wool, or fur products.
Canadian Labelling Regulations
A number or regulations govern different product attributes and the manner in which apparel products are sold in the marketplace.
The major labelling issues are:
- Fibre Content labelling
- Care Labelling
- Dealer Identity and
- Country of Origin
Most labelling issues are handled by the Competition Bureau, and are part of the Textile Labelling Act and related regulations. The exception to this is Country of Origin which is handled primarily by the Canadian Border Services Agency in conjunction with the Competition Bureau.
